6 Days In DUBAI!

First off, I'm sorry I haven't blogged for a long while- I know it's a petty excuse but I'm struggling with lighting. You all know what I mean, it's too dark when I get home from school to take photos and turning on the lights leaves a horrible shadow behind that is so dark you can barely even see the products I'm talking about. Nonetheless I'm back and as inconsistent as ever!

Get ready... It's a long one!

Dubai is like nowhere I have ever been, and probably will ever go to again in my life. It really was the holiday of a lifetime and it could not have been better in any way, shape or form! If you're thinking about going, hesitate no more!

The holiday began with the inevitable early start, with that, comes an exciting restaurant breakfast! I opted for a healthy dish of some sort of granola packed with nuts and raisins (just the way I like my granola), with a side order of fruit and yogurt, my idea of heaven on a plate!

As soon as we arrived at the airport we were greeted by the loveliest member of the hotel staff. I didn't quite catch her name but whoever you are, you put us completely at rest from all the waiting around we did for our luggage!

We stayed at the Atlantis which was such a great decision, I would go back there in a heart beat. I also recommend it to anyone looking for an incredible holiday in Dubai! If the lobby is anything to go by, you are in for a treat. If I can give you any tips, all I'd say is get an imperial club room, the views are amazing!

I wasn't lying!

Breakfast with a view!

The Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world! It's almost that tall it feels as if it is falling when you look up at the sky. Absolutely mind-blowing to say the least!

This was taken just after our shopping spree in Dubai mall. I'm wearing an off the shoulder black top from H&M (here), I find these kind of tops really flattering and easy to style. My skirt is from Missguided (buy it here) which I am still utterly infatuated with, and my shoes are a pair of flatforms from ASOS (find here, however they are currently out of stock. Similar here and here) that I didn't take off the whole time I was there, uber comfortable! It was the experience of a lifetime! So much so we had to go back a few nights later and go to the rest of the shops we didn't have chance to go visit; I bet we still didn't manage to get round the whole thing. I mean no wonder it's named the largest mall!

Another thing our hotel offered was a helicopter tour of Dubai! We were going to go to the top of the Burj Khalifa in order to achieve those incredible panoramic views of the city, however we thought we would get a lot more for our money by booking this amazing trip. Shout-out to the lovely woman who managed to sort us out with this as there were initially no spaces left until the day we left! (Please note, some of these images were taken on my phone, hence the bad quality and portrait shape).

On our second night in Downtown Dubai, we chose to eat at the California Pizza Kitchen and simultaneously watched the fountain show, a match made in heaven! What constitutes a satisfying and Meg-approved menu you ask? Why photos of the dishes of course! It's a bit of an inside joke with my family and I but who else loves a menu that not only describes the dish but also provides a photo of it? I think it should be illegal for all restaurants to not include this in their menus; all my family have to say is 'like a takeaway, yeah?', they clearly are not impressed with my theory. Finally! You finally know what you're ordering.

Even the mall has a sparkly ceiling! That's one thing I loved about Dubai, the amount of detail that has gone into every aspect is absolutely impeccable. Everywhere I went I felt completely safe and utterly at ease! It's a very lavish, majestic and extravagant area of the world, however it is done tastefully and with class. Not in a forced or aggressive way as some cities are. For the record, I only saw one Ferrari.... Actually forget that, because I saw copious amounts of Lamborghini's and Bentley's to make up for it.

The Souks that were just across for the hustle and bustle of the mall and the marina were also astounding. Considering they are in the middle of what felt like the most luxurious place in the world, the tradition of the souks really brought the area to life. Seasoned with a pinch of history, they really added extra attraction to the already amazing marina!

After wandering around the Souks, we stopped for another viewing of the fountains. They really made the whole experience of the marina even more perfect, not to mention the fact we must have marvelled at them for what felt like hundreds of times- (probably more like 4...)

This is me 90% of the time, flicking my hair out of my way or attempting to balance a spoon on my nose, it says it all really.

On our final night I wore a playsuit from Oh My Love. Unfortunately it's not on the website anymore (similar here and here). They say that everyone has a go-to outfit, and I didn't think that was ever possible until I discovered this little gem. I can't count on one hand the amount of times I've been in a frenzy about what to wear and always revert to this! It's so easy and I feel so comfortable in it. Like a last resort, but a gorgeous and silky one at that. I also teamed it with this last season kimono I found in Tk Maxx last summer. Again another bargain buy that has lasted me a whole year! (Similar here and here).

I will leave you with probably my favourite snap of the whole holiday Thanks dad for capturing this truly stunning photo). This remarkable image just shows how incredible the skyline of Jumeirah is, all the lights just illuminate the whole sky. I am completely smitten with Dubai and everything it has to offer.

Once again thank you everyone at the Atlantis hotel for an amazing stay, we will definitely be returning if we ever get chance! And of course, last but not least, thank you Dubai!

That's it for now, I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed creating it!

Have you ever been to Dubai? Where's the most amazing place you've ever been to?

Have a great day!
