What's In My Travel Make-Up Bag? | In-Flight Essentials Tips & Tricks!

Cosmetic Bags - NEXT
With the October half-term and my birthday lurking just around the corner I thought it was about time I mentioned that I'm actually going on holiday at the end of this week! You know you have that mental bucket-list of places you absolutely have to visit in the world? Well mine consists of mainly New York and Dubai. You'll be thrilled to know that the blog is going to get a lot more exciting as I'm checking off one of those places and heading off to Dubai for 6 days this Friday!

Being the control freak I am, I have everything planned to a T: What clothes to take, what makeup look might go with what outfit, etc, etc... That being said, I've packed everything I need and more and I've still probably forgotten something, typical. Getting up at 4:30 is definitely not my strong point, so I plan on just taking these bags in my hand-luggage with me and doing my make-up on the plane, after all I do have 7 hours to kill (hence the minimalism; don't worry, I'm taking more products with me, but here you'll see just what I need for the first day). Let's take a look!

Bag 1, the 'essentials' bag... This consists of all the boring, mundane bits that my life would be probably a lot more difficult without. I've tried to minimise the quantities of them so they will fit in my hand-luggage perfectly. Bobbles, cotton wool and cotton buds!

TIP: Pack a small mirror so you're not doing your makeup in your phone camera as I've had to do before- It's inconvenient and just plain annoying! Also, to minimise the amount of liquid you're taking on-board, transfer a tiny amount of moisturiser into a twisty-pot. Keeping your skin hydrated is vital especially when you're in such different conditions. I also advice pumping your foundation/tinted moisturiser/whatever you use into one of these pots too so you're not worrying about glass bottles smashing in your bag or being over the limit for how much liquid you can have! (Also the reason you won't see any foundation in this post... I'm so prepared I know *takes a bow*).

Makeup wise I'm just taking mainly what I would use on a daily basis, and also a pair of eyelashes in case I'm feeling extra keen. That being said, applying falsies on a plane doesn't sound like the easiest thing to do in the world, especially when I struggle doing it in the comfort of my own home, so I'll have to update you on that one.

TIP: Taking a creme eyeshadow will reduce time spent doing your eye makeup significantly and will still give an effective and glamorous look afterwards! I'm taking Mac's Let's Skate Paintpot which I talk about all the time and have actually done a separate post on here. There really is no skill required (you don't even have to worry about taking a brush, I just use my fingers).

Of course I'm taking my brushes too but they're pretty boring, and very dirty, so there getting a wash at the minute. Basically, I was too eager to blog about my in-flight beauty essentials to worry about them!

Where do you want to visit in the world? What are your beauty essentials for on the plane?

Have a great day!
Meg x
