A Few Hours In York!

My dad is currently home for a few weeks so we thought we'd take full advantage of it and head out to York for a day of shopping and afternoon tea. We began with an obligatory visit to Betty's cafe for a spot of tea and I also had a little meringue, which I must say was delightful. (If you're going, ask for the fruit meringue... oh wow)

We then ventured off to York Minster for a little history lesson and a stroll through the church. It was absolutely stunning and the architecture is unbelievable. It was also much bigger than I expected. Apologies for the lack of photographs, however you just can't capture how wonderful it is through a lens.

Then to the best part... shopping. There were plenty of individual boutiques and stunning little unique shops, and even some of the mainstream stores were 10x better than any of the other ones I've been in. We went rather early so there was hardly anyone there and everything was in pristine condition. I would definitely recommend setting off a little earlier as I'm sure you know, there is nothing worse than shopping amongst thousands of others.

Hope you enjoyed this little random post!

Have you ever been to York? Where is your favourite place for a little day trip?

Have a great day!

A Straightener To Beat All Straighteners | Ghd V Sunset Bird Of Paradise Collection

Ghd really are the masters of straightening iron and anyone who tells you differently is fibbing. Quite the controversial claim I know but I honestly don't know how anybody could disagree when Ghd are involved. If you want super straight locks at a reasonable price, keep reading...

My mum and I have used Ghd ever since I can remember. I recall going to buy our very first shared pair with my mum, needless to say I worshipped them until the day I opened my very own hot pink pair one Christmas. Low and behold, that black pair we bought all those years ago are still going strong (I've probably gone and jinxed it), and mine have only recently broken a few weeks ago. Hence why I've been eager to blog about this stunning pair I received from my mum a few days ago since she's fed up of be borrowing hers.

Ghd annually release many different limited edition collections with fancy patterns and exotic colours and I have the sunset straightener from the bird of paradise collection. It has a beautiful pink to purple ombré effect which is so beautiful and they have a high gloss sheen to them which makes them feel incredibly luxurious; Much more luxurious than the original ones, although they all do the exact same thing so it really doesn't matter! They take literally around 15 seconds to heat up (yes I counted...) and also have a sleep mode if you don't use them for 30 minutes so you don't tragically burn your house down since you forgot to turn them off. And lastly, a heat resistant mat is provided so you have somewhere to rest the straightener when not in use!

In terms of actually functioning the way they are meant to function, they are absolutely brilliant. Not only do I find that they leave my hair stick straight with one 'motion', the style remains pretty much through the whole day which I find is key, especially when you have unruly hair like mine. Secondly, they have a curved edge which I find is perfect for achieving natural curls, all I do is turn the straightener on it's side and pull towards the ground.

If you're in need of a pair of straighteners known for it's longevity at a reasonable price that actually do their job with no frills attached, then this is your answer!

Have you ever tried GHD? What do you use to straighten your hair?

Have a great day!

NYX Haul!

'The first of many' would probably be an understatement when it comes to NYX. I have wanted to try their products for literally around 3 years, and since they are now available online, I really had no excuse. I only received the package a few days ago and I'm already itching to blog about them; I can already tell I'm onto a winner.

I bought 2 'Mega Shine Lip Glosses' in the shades Nude Pink and Beige. I'm sure a lot of you have heard about 'Beige', purely because of the novelty in the fact that it really couldn't be further from the colour beige, it's more of a muted, dusky pink. The second shade, 'Nude Pink', is a beautiful, sheer peachy colour which would look beautiful over many different lipsticks. I can't forget to mention the fact they smell absolutely delicious. Just like those jelly cherries everyone fights for in the bag of Haribo, literally exactly like that... Heaven!

After hearing so much about the butter glosses, I just had to pick a couple up. I chose 'Apple Strudel' which is a gorgeous peachy, coral shade. The last one I picked up, 'Maple Blondie' Isn't too dissimilar, however on the lips it's more nude. In terms of formula, they aren't joking when they say it feels like butter. They glide on the lips and add a beautiful hint of colour without being overpowering.

Because I'm such a lipstick hoarder, I also picked up 2 lipsticks. The first one is 'Tea Rose' which isn't my favourite of the two, but I love the undertone in it. It's pink, but red, but nude.. If you know what I mean. A nice 'all-rounder' I suppose you could say. And then there is 'Narcissus' which is the closest thing to Barbie lips that I own. That being said, if you carefully dab your lips after applying it's a beautiful baby pink shade!

And lastly, the infamous jumbo eye pencil in 'milk'. I'm sure everyone has heard of this so I won't ramble (yeah, right...). It's perrrrrfect as an eyeshadow base of an eyebrow highlight and just glides onto the eyelids! Now I see what all the fuss is about.

Have you tried anything from NYX before? What is your favourite products from NYX?

Have a great day!

A D-I-Y Face Mask To Change Your Life!

No matter who you are, everyone has the obligatory pamper night now and again. A long soak in the bath followed by a deep skin cleanse never fails to exceed my needs on a Sunday night; But it all comes at a price. Who wants to spend £30+ on a face mask when you can simply make one using the contents of your kitchen cupboards?

Low and behold, and about 50 avocados later, I have found my perfect match. I don't know the science behind it, or why it works, but it just does. I mean if you can get over the strange smell, this D-I-Y face mask is an absolute godsend that I recommend everyone to try! It has made a dramatic difference to the quality of my skin and I have also seen a significant decrease in blemishes and redness since using this! There is absolutely no harm in testing it out, and for around £1.50, you seriously cannot go wrong.

Ingredients:
1/2 Avocado
1 Egg White
1 tsp Oats
1 Lemon (optional)

  1. First off, cut your avocado in half. Depending on how much you will be using, you might want to use a full avocado, but I find cutting it in half does my whole face just fine.
  2. Mash up the avocado into tiny pieces, It should be mushy, semi liquid formula.
  3. Crack your egg akin sure you are only using the egg white and leaving the yolk.
  4. Mix in your porridge oats and combine together.
  5. Squeeze a lemon into the mixture (this is optional, will tighten skin) and apply to face.
  6. Leave on for 20-25 minutes and wash off with warm water.
  7. Finally, apply an once cold flannel onto the skin for a few seconds to tighten the pores.

Have you ever made your own face mask? Would you rather buy one pre-made or make your own?

Have a great day!
