Life Talk and What's Going On!

Hello everyone! I have so much to say I think my brain is about to explode. I'd just quickly like to add that there is going to be an excessive amount of apologising during this post so I thought I would tell you in advance to avoid any misunderstanding...(hehe!) Also, I expect this one to be incredibly informal, so let's have a chat!

First of all, I'd like to start by apologising... how ironic! I'm aware its been over a week since my last post and I honestly have no excuse. Well, I do. My excuse is that school is absolutely taking over. I've have a french speaking exam to prepare for which I'm scheduled to next Monday. I hate aural exams. I hate any form of exam to be completely honest. Written exams do not have a patch on Speaking exams in terms of pressure! If I make a mistake in a written exam, I'm only an error line away from the right answer, however in terms of speaking assessments, you can't take back what you've said wrong once you've said it. There is also the added pressure that if you put a foot wrong you may as well just stop the recording and start all over again. And that's another thing, I wouldn't even be able to remember 300 words in English, never mind French!

Next, I'm sure a lot of you can relate to me when I say the dreaded words 'blogging rut'. It's an inevitable feeling and I couldn't think of a worse situation. I don't know if it's the fact I'm lacking in confidence and want my content to be original, authentic, and actually have substance to it rather than writing out any old thing and hoping for the best. Blogging is such a passion of mine and I hate it when I'm inconsistent and leave it a few weeks between posts. Regardless of the fact I feel like some of my previous posts have been unimaginative, I don't know what direction I want to take with this blog. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love nothing more than to sit and write for hours on end about beauty products I'm currently loving, or which products you should stay clear of, but in spite of this part of me wants to change it up. I'd love to 'venture' out into doing more lifestyle posts, but then again I think, 'who cares about what you did at the weekend'? I mean I don't particularly have a very interesting life, it feels like all I do is go to school and come home. Nonetheless, I'd definitely say I read the equivalent of lifestyle blogs as I do beauty or fashion blogs, so it would definitely be something I'm considering participating in. I' don't like to name-drop very often as there are so many stunning blogs I am yet to discover, but for instance, 'The Londoner' is a blog that I'm sure you've all heard of. I cannot get enough of the stunning imagery Rosie includes in the posts. Even just simple photos like flowers or architecture just make me so happy! Ok, I'm rambling, I'm sure you get the point. But I would love to know what you would like to see here!

So long story short, I'm definitely to going anywhere, however I just want to make sure the posts I upload I am fully satisfied with from now on, and I'm not just posting for the sake of consistency. Thank you for sticking by me, beautiful followers!

Have a great day!

The Makeup Mishaps Tag!

As you all know, I have an absolute blogging bestie, to be honest I don't even think she's a 'blogging' best friend now, she's just more of an actually friend, ah the beauty of blogging! Anyway, the lovely Estelle's only gone and tagged me to do 'The Makeup Mishaps Tag' which I thought would be a perfect mid-week edit for the blog!

Ok, so you're attending a high end beauty event, would you rather:

Have really thick, sharpie like eyebrows or a major neck/foundation line?
I have a feeling I'm going to say this for every question, but neither!!! This is probably the worst combination ever, how on earth am I expected to pick between the two?! But... If I absolutely had to pick one, I'd have to say the eyebrows, just because of the fact If I was at a beauty event I would hope someone would offer to 'try some products out on me' when what they actually mean is, 'oh darling let me re-do those brows'! You know?

Have chipped nail polish or horribly faded lipstick?
This one is pretty easy for me, nail polish all the way. I hate the fact I don't take much pride in my nails, but I've always been a nail biter- absolutely atrocious I know and definitely a bad habit that needs to stay in 2013! I am however trying to stop so I can have nice nails for the summer, or just forever even! Perhaps if they were long I would feel differently about this question!

Have smudged all your eye makeup or have lipstick on your teeth?
Definitely lipstick on my teeth, hopefully someone would be kind enough to tell me and I could sort it out within a few seconds. But smudged eye makeup calls for a whole other story!

Over highlight- a la disco ball- or over pluck those brows and look completely surprised?
I'd have to say over highlight, hopefully the highlight would fade as the night went on and I'd look a little more normal towards the end of the night- and do you know how long eyebrows take to grow back?!

It's a typical working/school day, and unfortunately your beauty products have gone missing. You can only find a few things hidden at the bottom of your makeup bag, and have to use what you can find. What do you choose?
Considering I wear very minimal makeup for school this wouldn't be a major problem, but I'd absolute hate to go without a little coverage to cover up any dark spots- a la concealer, eyebrows as I feel they shape your face, and mascara to open up my eyes and make me look a lot more awake.

OTT unsubtle fake lashes or clear mascara?
As much as I love false eyelashes, there is nothing worse than when you apply ones that just make you look ridiculous, and I'd feel even worse at school looking like I've tried way too hard and got up at 6am to apply really bad false eyelashes. So for that reason, I'd have to say clear mascara- I mean it's clear, it can't be that bad... (yeah, right)

A foundation five shades too dark or five shades too light?
Both make me cringe SO bad, but It's got to be 5 shades too light. There are a variety of options you have and different products you can apply over the top to make it look a little better, whereas if it's too dark, it's just too dark.

Hair-gloss (a beautifully sticky gloss: perfect for getting your hair stuck to in the wind) or gorgeous concealer lips?
I always get hair gloss on my way to school, so annoying! But it would probably seem pretty bearable in comparison to concealer lips!

Finally, it's the middle of summer - you can have either a manicure or a pedicure. However, the other set of nails have to be bare - what do you pick?
Pedicure! Summer is really the only time I tend to show my feet so I'd rather have bare finger nails and amazing toenails than the other way round.

Thank you so much Estelle for tagging me, and Becca for creating the tag!

I tag:
And YOU!

Bourjois Happy Light Foundation Review!

I'm probably a little late jumping on the Happy Light bandwagon, but after using Mac's studio fix fluid for what seems like years, I soon came to the conclusion that I just needed a change, or else I would go insane. I think it's good to try different foundations out now and again to see what does and doesn't work for you. I've heard about Bourjois foundation's forever but there seems to be so many different types of the healthy mix one everyone talks about that I just decided to go for something completely different and eliminate the hassle.

I wanted something with medium coverage that I could wear on a daily basis that would last roughly about 6 hours without having to touch-up or powder. I also wanted it to have a luminous but not dewy finish, and match my skin tone, too much to ask? Well, It has a stunning finish, nothing too shiny, but definitely not matte. It feels like i'm literally not wearing anything on my face when I use this, I really mean it. It has an incredibly airy texture that just feel so lightweight, and at the same time I'm still getting the light-medium coverage I asked for, depending on how much I use (1-2 pumps usually). I'm definitely a powder girl, so when I realised I didn't have to wear powder and actually enjoyed this without powder I was so pleased.

As far as matching my skin tone goes, this is literally perfect, I couldn't have asked for better. I bought it in shade N50 Porcelain, the lightest shade (boo!). Unfortunately, as far as I'm aware the shade range is tiny compared with the likes of L'oreal True match for instance at only 5 shades! So if you struggle buying drugstore foundations unless you have a million different shades to choose from, this probably won't be for you. Nonethelsss if you happen to pass a Bourjois stand in the near future I absolutely 100% recommend you at least go try it for yourself.

Have you ever tried a Bourjois foundation before? Do you prefer light, medium, or heavy coverage from a foundation?

Have a great day!

MAC Soft & Gentle!

I'm sure you all know about this and have done for months, but for those who don't, oh my. This beautiful Mineralise Skinfinish from Mac is an absolute godsend and I haven't honestly never used another highlighter like this. I remember buying this probably around 2 years ago now- and this one only looks brand new due to the fact I lost my old one. These things will last years, and yes I really mean it- YEARS! I never usually buy products without reading a single review or browsing swatches, or even knowing anything it for that matter, but this was an exception. I simply walked into the store, and after trying out every single lipstick there was on my hand, walked out with it (obviously after paying..). It was definitely a smart move and it certainly shows that sometimes, impulse buys pay off. However I'd of probably bought it eventually, regardless of buying it that day or not due to the hype it's caused and me being the typical, intrigued teenager I am. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it. I use it just on the tops of my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose and a tiny dab of it on my cupids bow. I recommend to be pretty delicate with your application as it really is as pigmented as it looks and you could end up looking a little more like the sun than just having a natural radiant glow. It has a stunning champagne tone and it looks super natural when the light hits your cheekbones!

P.S It's also a brilliant eyeshadow- It just keeps on getting better!

What's your favourite highlighter? Have you used Soft and Gentle before?

Have a great day!

1 Basic Jumpsuit, 3 Ways!

There are countless staples a woman must have in her wardrobe, from the white shirt to the obligatory LBD, another piece that is a must-have is a jumpsuit... I mean it's not as must have as the LBD, but It's still pretty must-have (how many times did I say must-have in one sentence?!) The thing I love about them is they are so easy to style, meaning they are incredibly versatile and considering they are such a minimalist piece, can make a statement when paired with certain accessories or jackets. Another brilliant benefit of wearing a jumpsuit is that switching from day-to-night is remarkably easy as with the help of a change in footwear or coat for example, you can transform a look without even having to get changed! And finally, the fact you don't even have to think about what shirt goes with which skirt and which top goes with which trousers, it just makes the whole process a lot faster and would therefore be great for those on the go.

I myself own a jumpsuit that black on the bottom half, and pastel pink/cream on the top half, so it's a really nice alternative to the black jumpsuit with a little extra detail, and I find it's just as easy to style!

Black Jumpsuit here // Python Print Coat here // Nude Court Shoes here // White Clutch Bag here // Gold Necklace here //

I would wear this on a casual day at the office (not that I have an office...) or a smart casual event that didn't require you dressing up too much but simultaneously requires a tiny bit of effort. Print is huge this season and the beautiful Stella McCartney coat shown above is no exception. I spotted this whilst browsing Net-a-Porter one day which I occasionally like to do, even though I never buy anything and probably won't for a long time until I manage to save up to be able to afford one of the beautiful pieces featured on that dreamy website. I also love how the nude court heels match the coat almost perfectly and therefore ties everything together really nicely. Same with the stunning Whistles clutch and the gold necklace in which the hardware from the clutch is mirrored around the neck giving the outfit a really effective but not over-the-top look!

Black Jumpsuit here // Leather Biker Jacket here // Black Rucksack here // Black Peep-Toe Boots here // Silver Chain Necklace here //
All black is something I find myself wearing a lot recently, perhaps a lot more than I want to be honest. It's just such an easy colour to style and considering a lot of my favourite items in my wardrobe are black, it's kind of hard not to. On paper, black-on-black sounds somewhat boring and can be overlooked, but you honestly don't have to wear 4 different prints to make a statement! This look is something I would see someone like Kim Kardashian wearing, or even Kanye West for that matter (minus the heels and necklace..). Kim's frequently been hitting the headlines in all-black or even all-white ensembles which I personally  love and think they look incredible. Another trend I can't seem to get away from is leather on leather, and I think this outfit is a refreshing take on the 'rock-biker chick' (let's pretend I never said that) that we've seen everywhere recently and the use of different materials and fabrics adds a deeper dimension to the outfit. And finally the peep toe has always been one to impress, so why not incorporate it into your outfit?

Black Jumpsuit here // White Cropped Jacket here // Nude Platform Shoes here // Kate Spade Watch here // Pink Necklace here // Pink Mulberry Willow Bag here //
And finally, the perfect attire for a lunch date or shopping spree to even a night out with friends. It was virtually impossible to not include the amazing pink Mulberry willow bag that I think is just completely and utterly perfect and also means you can probably carry around the entire contents of your dressing table in. It's just the perfect amount of femininity without being overly girly or in your face. I love these delightful Kurt Geiger platforms which I've had my eye on for months but there is absolutely no point in getting hung up on them as I would never be able to walk in the anyway, typical!

A plain black jumpsuit means free reign when it comes to accessories so venture out of your comfort zone and try something different! Just like Karl Lagerfeld said, you don't have to wear shocking pink or bright green to make your outfit look effective and courageous  I think it's all about being adventurous, even if that mean trying a different style of coat or an alternative to your usual necklace. Fashion is however you define it and I think a black jumpsuit would be a great place to start your journey!

What's your staple piece in your wardrobe?
Have a great day!

10 Pink Lip Products You Need To Know About!

This is a post I've been very excited to do as I'm an absolute pink lipstick and lipgloss fanatic, if you hadn't already guessed. For me, pink is just so wearable, whether it's a nude pink or even a bright fuchsia there is something about a pink lipstick that instantly makes me feel better about myself. I've tried a fair few but not nearly enough, there is plenty on my wishlist so I'm sure you'll be seeing many more posts like this!

Rimmel Kate Moss-101
So up first is this lovely Kate Moss for Rimmel lipstick that I bought a long time ago, hence why there is hardly any left. It's a lovely matte pink colour and really is the perfect colour for those who like an understated lip but still want to look like they are wearing lipstick. I have only tried 1 more from this range and that is a bright orange colour and I absolutely love that too, so I would definitely be interested in buying more!

Mac- Creme Cup
Next up, Mac's Creme Cup. You've probably seen a million posts not this lipstick but this really is an all-rounder of lipsticks for me. I'd even go as far in saying it is my favourite lipstick in the entire world... I know, crazy! It is just absolutely perfect and completes pretty much every single makeup-look you're opting for that day.  If I had to pinpoint one tiny insignificant problem though, something I would have to say it feels like it dries my lips out a tiny bit, but that's what Carmex is for, right?

Mac- Plink!

This is another favourite, I wore this lipstick and only this lipstick for months on end, and I honestly mean that! It was the first Mac lipstick I ever bought and have repurchased time and time again since. I feel it doesn't get featured on the blogosphere nearly enough as it should be. It has a very subtle shimmer and is a lovely peachy pink colour. Everyone needs to try this!

Mac Dazzleglass- Steppin' Out
Mac Dazzleglass's are definitely the marmite of beauty products. If you didn't know, they are unbelievably sticky and if you're not used to it, it can be kind of intimidating and off-putting I suppose. That's how I felt in the beginning but after getting used to them, after a while I don't really think about the overwhelming sticky-ness of them anymore. I mean how can you not love that colour?! The glitter particles are insane and make your lips look like a glitter ball, which surprisingly I quite like.

Maybelline- Soft Pearl (808)
This is one I bought on a whim on one of those mass 'Fragrance Direct' orders you make occasionally, I think it was my first time so I just bought lots of things I didn't need and would probably never use. Now I hardly ever wear this lipstick unless I'm just having one of those 'sit in front of the mirror and play with your products' days... you know the ones. It's a very shimmery lipstick with a high shine finish and is a very soft pink, which is surprisingly very overwhelming as It's kind of harder to wear than I expected and depending on my makeup look, can make me look a little bit strange. Nonetheless it's still a beautiful colour and I'm sure I'll get my wear out of it.

I love the Rimmel lipsticks, and so this colour was no exception to my pink lipstick obsession. It's nowhere near a soft pink but isn't a fuchsia pink either, so is a perfect combination of both, and therefore is extremely wearable. The formula is a dream, it's so creamy and just glides on your lips. However, I'm not sure if they are maybe a little too creamy as it tends to slide around my lips if I'm not careful. They are also really moisturising and I don't even need to apply gloss on top as they are so beautiful and shiny.

Revlon Lacquer Balm- Croquette
I've been seeing these Revlon balms left right and centre recently, and rightly so! They really are fantastic and I would definitely buy more. Again is a lovely in-the-middle shade and so it's incredibly wearable and looks great with any makeup-look. The fact it's in a stick form makes it 10x better for me as I find most of the time, they are really simple to apply and I'm not worrying about it smudging or uneven distribution etc. The perfect pink!... And they also smell really good.

Rimmel- Fancy
I've had this for so long and only wear it on occasion but it's a lovely peachy colour that has a lot of shimmer, so much shimmer you can feel the particles on your lips. Needless to say it has a very rough texture when it's on your lips but I don't actually mind that!

YSL Rouge Volupte- Lingerie Pink (7)
I know I've talked about this before, but just look at that. It's the most beautiful packaging I've ever seen, and you can just feel the quality of it in your hands, it's also one of the heaviest lipsticks I own, which I really like! Packaging aside, this is again, a beautiful nude pink colour that would look fantastic with any look you're going for. It's so moisturising and creamy and feels amazing on the lips! I would definitely be interested in trying more from YSL!

Rimmel- Funtime Fucshia
I absolutely love this one! It's a true fuchsia and really makes a statement. It's perfect for those that aren't daring enough to go for a red, but want a bold lip to accompany their makeup and if that's what you're looking for, this is your answer! After hearing quite a lot about this I knew I just had to try it as I'm a big fan of the Rimmel lipsticks (you already guessed that, right?...) It has an obvious blue undertone so it makes it very frosty and look great on the lips!

That's a wrap for this post! Even though you're probably on a pink lip product overload, I would love to know if you have any recommendations ad I'm always open to suggestions!

What's your favourite lipstick colour to wear?

Have a great day!
