La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo Review!

Today I'm bringing you a review of the ever so sought after 'La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo' that I think every single person has tried excluding me until a few weeks ago when I picked it up in my local Boots store. After hearing so much about this moisturiser, I had really high expectations, and had incredibly high hopes for this, and I quote 'miracle worker'...

Unfortunately I didn't get the exact results I desired from this little tube of cream. However It definitely didn't make my skin any worse. I found that when I applied it all over my face it kind of just made it feel a little bit dirty and clogged my pores, although when I tried it specifically on problem areas where I had breakouts, especially my chin, I saw a significant decrease in the size and redness of the blemishes. This can only be due to the moisturiser.

It has quite a clinical and distinctive scent to it, but it's one of those that smells like it would work. The same way if something stings when you apply it to an area, it automatically feels like it's working, I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but you know what I mean. Consistency wise, it's very thin and quite runny, which is quite a nice but different alternative to my usual moisturiser!

Overall, It is brilliant for reducing redness, and an instant pick-me-up if you have an area in need of TLC and want results fast! Personally, I wouldn't apply this all over my face just because I feel it didn't really do anything in terms of preventing breakouts or unclogging pores etc.

Overall, 7/10

Have you ever tried this product?

Have a great day!

  1. I have recently bought a new skincare regime from La Roche Posay and I *think* (don't quote me) that this product has been discontinued and a new version is replacing it - the 'La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo [+]' which is basically the same thing but with added ingredients. Anyway, I got a sample of the original in the post and thought it was fantastic (my skin can't get much worse) and decided to buy a full size. I have been using it for nearly four days and it hasn't worked wonders on my skin but so far I have seen a significant reduction of spots, but, unfortunately, the marks are still there! I'm hoping with continued use alongside the face wash and toner it will improve the marks on my skin but I don't know... I think with skin care it really depends on your skin type. Up until recently I was sure I had dry skin because someone at a Bobbi Brown make up counter told me so three years ago. Well I suffer with acne so that doesn't make sense - my skin must be oily to some extent!
